Annual License Required

Wrightsville Beach Town Ordinance § 91.21 requires that all dog and cat owners residing in the Town for over 15 days must register their pets annually. The annual license tax is $10 for altered and unaltered dogs and cats with the license period extending January 1 through December 31.

Please register your pet at Town Hall anytime Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and obtain your license tag. You will be asked to provide
pertinent information including the size, age, breed, color, sex, legal residence of the animal, and the name and address of the owner. You will also be asked to show proof of current rabies vaccination and expiration date.

All dogs over the age of four months are required to wear a collar or harness with a current rabies vaccination tag and current Town animal license tax tag (as required) attached.

For You

Pet waste is not fertilizer! To help maintain a clean environment, there are several stations around the loop containing complimentary dog waste bags. Law requires pet owners to carry pet waste bags with them at all times, clean up after their pets, and dispose of the waste properly in trash bins.

Leashed pets are allowed on public property all year round EXCEPT the on the beach strand from April 1st - September 30th.

For Your Pet

Dogs have heat stroke too! To help keep your pet hydrated, there are several dog-friendly water fountains located around the loop. Always bring extra water for your pets and provide shade to keep them cool.

Violation of these regulations could result in large fines.
