On July 26, 1974, the Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen approved an ordinance that created a Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Seven citizens are appointed by the Board to serve a 2 year term running from February 1 through January 31 serving no more than 3 consecutive terms.
The committee serves as a liaison between the Planning and Parks Department and the citizens of the community in parks and recreation matters. Responsibilities include making recommendations in matters that affect parks and recreation policies and programs, and acquisition and disposal of lands relating to the total community parks and recreation program.
