  • Fireworks that explode or leave the ground, such as firecrackers, bottle rockets, Roman candles, and aerial fireworks are illegal.  Fireworks that stay on the ground, are handheld, or produce smoke or noise, such as sparklers, snakes, and poppers, are legal.  You must be 16 years of age or older to buy or use fireworks in North Carolina.  Illegally using fireworks can be punishable by up to a $500 fine and up to six months of imprisonment.  Click here for the NC General Statures regarding fireworks.
