A Cape fear Public Utility Authority project to increase the resiliency of water and sewer infrastructure serving the Town of Wrightsville Beach began Monday, November 10, 2025.
CFPUA worked from the 2000 block of Eastwood Road to Summer Rest Road, constructing new water and sewer mains that have been installed under the Intracoastal Waterway.
As of March 25, 2026, work started on the open-cut portion of CFPUA’s water main installation project. Crews will be digging and installing pipe from Seawater Lane to just before the asphalt entrance to the Federation/Wrightsville Beach Museum.
After completing this section, construction will pause in that area while crews move to other parts of the project. They are expected to return in approximately six weeks to complete the final segment, which will extend to the area near the pickleball courts.
This final portion is scheduled last to allow for immediate restoration once the work is complete, helping minimize long-term disruption.
All work and corresponding lane closures will take place Mondays through Fridays, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., with normal road conditions outside of those hours.
Work on this phase of the project is expected to last through May 2026.
Additional traffic advisories related to this project will be posted at CFPUA.org and TownofWrightsvilleBeach.com. For questions related to this project, please contact CFPUA at (910) 332-6550 or www.cfpua.org.
