Reidsville, N.C. (September 21, 2016) – The North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police and the North Carolina Central University (NCCU) School of Law will sponsor “Unity in the Community” town hall meeting on six University of North Carolina campuses from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on September 28, 2016. Along with NCCU, the host site for the meeting, the additional remote sites include Fayetteville State University, Winston-Salem State University, the University of North Carolina at Asheville, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and Elizabeth City State University. The meetings will be broadcast and viewed simultaneously via live video to all campus sites.
The purpose of the forum is to have dialogue between law enforcement and the community. The nine-member panel at NCCU will consist of police leaders, noted academic researchers, and community based organization leaders. Panelists will take questions from the audience with the focus on building strong relationships between the police and those they serve.
The town hall event begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Albert L. Tuner Law School. The public is invited to attend.
The North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police (NCACP) is comprised of over 300 active police chiefs as well as their command staff who are committed in providing professional law enforcement services and protecting our state’s citizens. It is the goal of the association to start the conversation with the community about building a stronger relationship of trust, understanding, and collaboration.
